Children learn about Sandy Spring heritage

Group tours of the Sandy Springs Historic Site, conducted by costumed docents, are available for schools, scouts, and other groups of young people by appointment. Highlights include an introductory video, tour of the Williams-Payne House (c.1869), and a walk through the grounds where the Milk House, Historic Sandy Springs, demonstration gardens, and an old-fashioned privy are located. Students will learn about the history of Sandy Springs, the Native Americans, and everyday life on a rural Southern farm on their tour. Admission is free for organizational groups with school age children. This tour program is designed primarily for students in grades K-5.
