Heritage Sandy Springs presents Awesome Afternoons, a new series featuring lively musical acts and entertainment for families and children of all ages. All performances are held on the Sandy Springs Society Entertainment Lawn, 6110 Bluestone Road, from 2-4 p.m. and the cost is $3 per person. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs. Awesome Afternoons includes the following original performances: Sunday, April 20 : Eric Litman (“Mr. Eric”) An award-winning singing storyteller, “Mr. Eric” will perform a one-of-a kind, interactive show for children incorporating instruments, singing and creative dancing. Sunday, May 18: The New Opera's “The Kitty Who Lost Her Meow”“ "Kiki” has lost her meow after a fun-filled, karaoke slumber party. Come find out how fellow kitties team up to help Kiki get her meow back! Sunday, June 8: Atlanta Puppet's Peter Hart Performing at locations such as Walt Disney World, Six Flags and the Sandy Springs Festival, professional puppeteer Peter Hart will present an exciting puppet show followed by a hands-on workshop.
Heritage Sandy Springs and the Sandy Springs/Perimeter Chamber of Commerce present Wind Down Wednesdays , a spring time series of outdoor concerts on the Sandy Springs Society Entertainment Lawn. The “after work” performances offer a welcome relief from snarled rush hour traffic. All performances are from 6-8 p.m. and are free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs, but no outside food or beverage is allowed. Meehans Public House will be onsite selling beer and wine, as well as cheeseburgers, hot dogs, egg salad sandwiches, classic nachos, fresh fruit cups and freshly baked cookies. Pets and smoking are not permitted on the premises. Relax with friends at Sandy Springs ' newest venue while enjoying these great performances: Wednesday, April 23 : Bobby Yang and his Unrivaled Players A classically trained violinist turned nationally recognized rock artist, Bobby Yang will perform instrumental tributes to classic rock anthems. His violin acts as both the lead singer and guitarist, as the songs of Led Zeppelin, RUSH and other rock legends become instrumental jams. Wednesday, May 7 : Yuppie Scum Bankers and lawyers by day, the members of this local band shed their coats and ties to perform a wide variety of classic rock, dance and party favorites. Wednesday, May 21 : Audrey St. Clair Come and enjoy the intimate, soulful sounds of Audrey St. Clair as she brings a blend of classic favorites, as well as original song collections from her current release album "All I Need is U" to the stage. Accompanied by the talents of guitarist Billy Toledo and pianist O.J. Harper, Audrey has been compared to the sounds of Alicia Keys, Sade' and Sarah McLachlan.
"Art In Your Garden" featuring Walter Reeves Join us for an evening with gardening expert Walter Reeves as he offers tips for incorporating artistic elements into your garden. Art In Your Garden will be held Thursday, May 1, from 6:00-7:30 p.m. in the Williams-Payne House Garden Room at Heritage Green, 6075 Sandy Springs Circle. The event is free and open to the public. From 6:00-6:30 p.m. enjoy light hors d'oeuvres courtesy of Prudential Georgia Realty and complimentary wine tasting provided by Catamarca Imports.
"The Art of Wine" On Tuesday, May 6, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Heritage Sandy Springs and Atlantic Wine & Spirits will host an informative demonstration on the art of wine tasting at The Tasting Room, 6010 Sandy Springs Circle.
